Tummy Tuck

Abdominoplasty

This procedure is designed to eliminate loose skin of the abdominal wall and repair the overstretched muscle that can sometimes result from pregnancy weight loss and the aging process.

An Abdominoplasty is one of the more major Cosmetic Surgical procedures and the operation is performed under general anaesthesia. The patient would normally be in hospital for one to two nights. An incision is made transversely across the lower part of the abdomen and the redundant fold of skin removed. The underlying muscle will be tightened at this point. This means that it is necessary to re-position the umbilicus (belly button). The incisions can be quite extensive and is normally within the bikini line.

In many cases patients think that they need a "tummy tuck" when Liposculpture could give them the result they are looking for. There is always significant skin contracture after Liposculpture and this is especially so with Advanced Laser Lipolysis.

Abdominoplasty and Liposculpture can be performed together in appropriate cases.
The decision as to which procedure or combination of procedures can only be made after a consultation and detailed assessment by the surgeon. At The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic we have vast experience and expertise in these areas.
