SCLEROTHERAPY TREATMENT FOR THREAD VEINS ON THE LEGS
Thread veins are tiny red veins occurring just below the skin of either the face or the legs. They do not have any health implications but they are unsightly and relatively easy to treat.
We use a combination of Sclerotherapy injections and Intense Pulsed Light treatment to treat these vessels as we find that the combination of these two methods of treatment can be particularly effective.
We hope that most of these veins will be removed in one session that normally lasts between 30 – 45 minutes.
But where the thread veins are very extensive further treatment sessions are sometimes necessary and these are at a reduced cost. The very small veins which can not be treated with Sclerovein are usually removed with the IPL machine.
Prior to Sclerotherapy treatment, a local anaesthetic cream is applied. The actual treatment is then quite painless.
For several weeks following the treatment the veins look rather worse as they are inflamed and take on a more livid hue. Following this, the vessels shrink and disappear.
Treatment is very quick and relatively painless. Although the veins do look darker after treatment for a short while before fading, during this time make up can be worn. Again more than one treatment may be necessary.
