SKIN LESIONS
We are able to treat all type of skin lesions under local anaesthesia at The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic.
These may be classed as the following:
1) Moles
2) Skin Tags
3) Spider Naevi
4) Lypomas
5) Warts
6) Age Spot
7) Sebaceous Cysts
8) Neurofibroma
9) Melanoma
10) BCC (Basal Cell Carcinoma)
Many skin lesions are quite benign and the diagnosis fairly obvious. In this situation we can remove them by simple excision under local anaesthesia. Some skin lesions are more appropriately treated with laser ablation which has the advantage of a less visible scar.
Where there is any doubt about the diagnosis and there may be a possibility that there could be a malignancy, then the skin lesion is always excised, again under local anaesthesia and the lesion is sent to the laboratory for histological examination.
We are normally able to remove all of these skin lesions with minimal visible scarring. Where skin sutures are used, these are normally removed after 7 days.
