PECTORAL IMPLANTS

This procedure gives the appearance of a more heavily muscled chest and upper torso.

The implants are made of solid silicone and are placed behind the Pectoralis major muscle. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and requires one night in hospital. Incisions are made in the armpit on each side and the implants are inserted through these incisions.

Recovery is usually rapid and mostly uneventful. Patients are seen after one week to ensure all is well. Patients can generally return to normal activities including exercise at around 6 weeks.

An alternative method would be to use Macrolane by injection under local anaesthesia.
