BLEPHAROPLASTY (UPPER OR LOWER EYEBAG REMOVAL)
Excess wrinkling or fatty deposits around the eye area can occur at almost any age, and are often genetic in origin, rather than directly attributed to the effects of ageing.
The removal of wrinkled pouches below the eyes, together with the fatty tissue is achieved by making an incision very close to the lower lash line, extended slightly beyond the outer corner. The excess fat is then removed a re-accumulation is unlikely to occur. Extremely fine sutures are used, resulting in virtually undetectable post-operative scarring.
'Hooding' or wrinkling of the upper lid is removed by making an incision in the natural crease line, again resulting in a much more youthful effect without visible scarring.
The operation can be performed under Local Anaesthetic with sedation. The patient would have a detailed consultation with the Surgeon to determine which would be more appropriate.
If the problem is eye bags and there is no loose skin, the operation would be a Transconjuntival Blepharoplasty. The incision for this operation is made inside the lower eyelid and the fat pads which cause the “eye bag” is removed. Therefore there is no visible scar at all. This is an extremely effective procedure.
