Repeated frowning or squinting can lead to the development of deep lines on the forehead and between the eyebrows. It can be habit forming, so much so that the frown lines become a permanent feature.
You might not be aware that you are frowning and may even be frowning in your sleep.
It is now possible to break this habit by the injection of Botulinum Toxin. This is injected in minute quantities into the muscles of the forehead and renders the muscles unable to move for approximately 3-4 months. This treatment can substantially reduce the appearance of frown lines.
We use the minimum dose of Botox compatible with achieving the desired result so as to minimise the risk of complications. However we are aware that a recorded complication of the treatment is a droopy eyelid.
The effects of the treatment will become apparent after approximately 2 - 5 days; however, in some patients it can take up to 14 days.
Static wrinkles due to skin thinning will not be improved by Botox. These respond well to dermal fillers. Many patients will benefit from a combination of Botox and Dermal Fillers.
Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis)
There are many factors which can stimulate excessive sweating. It is caused by over activity of one type of sweat glad, the eccrine gland.
Excessive sweating can be solved easily, leaving your skin dry regardless of the heat. The treatment is comfortable and painless and involves Botox being injected into the skin which enters the sweat glands. This blocks the nerve impulses that are a major factor in producing excessive sweat.
After the treatment you will notice a significant reduction in sweating. This can last between 6-9 months.
Gummy Smile
A gummy smile is one which a large proportion of the gum is displayed when smiling or laughing.
It normally becomes an issue for people when approximately 2mm of the gum is displayed.
It is a simple, straight forward procedure which involves small doses of Botox being injected. It is a temporary solution and the results typically last 3-4 months.
