Hyaluronic acid, being the main compound for juvederm, is present naturally in your body. Hyaluronic acid helps lubricate joints and tissues and it diminishes with age, causing skin to lose its volume and elasticity. To combat wrinkles and help regain the natural tone of the skin, Juvederm treatment serves a great purpose. The results of this treatment may last up to 6 months to 1 year. The advantage of this treatment is that one can have re-treatment at any time. As with any other injectable fillers, the juvederm injections may take between 15-30 minutes. The procedure begins with topical numbing cream being applied to the affected area. Next, juvederm is injected beneath the skin in specific areas and your surgeon may soothingly massage the treated area. You can expect complete results in 2-3 days. You might experience minor swelling, aches and redness after the treatment. It is important that you avoid backbreaking activities for 24 hours following the treatment.

So, how is Juvederm better in comparison to other injections? Well, it is good for filling wrinkles in the skin induced by lost skin tone including the nasolabial folds. However, Juvederm is not apt for smoothing active wrinkles such as glabellar lines, forehead corrugations that are treated with Botox. Juvederm is ideal for shallow treatments where the granular surface of Restylane may show. It can be used efficiently for facial contouring. Unlike other dermal fillers like Sculptra, Juvederm procedure does not notably expand after injection. It is commonly used around areas such as lips, under eye areas, smile lines, under deep wrinkles and scars, the marionette lines and so on. This is definitely not a DIY procedure. It is important that you consult your surgeon and get the right type of treatment done on your face. Ensure to follow after treatment procedures for better results.
