Permanent fillers under fire on The One Show

Leslie Ash appeared on The One Show last night to talk about her own treatment which was clearly disastrous and the experience of yet another patient with a poor result.

The main problem in the UK is the lack of regulation of the products. There are nearly 100 different types of filler available here, many of which have not been adequately tested. In the US however the regulation is very strict and is conducted by a body known as the FDA.

For this reason at The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic we only use products with FDA approval. The treatments are also carried out by a very experienced Doctor as the problem with lack of product regulation is componded by inexperienced practitioners who may not be experienced or even qualified.

We do in fact use one permanent filler called Aquamid. This product does have an excellent safety record but it should always be used with great care. Whilst it can give rise to permanent benefit if it is incorrectly placed it can also cause a permanent problem. We always start with a biodegradable product then follow up with Aquamid when the patient has had some experience of how the filler will appear. In this way we have always avoided problems and have a 100% satisfaction record.
