STATEMENT ON PIP BREAST IMPLANTS
January 2012
The Medical Director and staff of The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic wish to apologise to all of our patients with PIP implants for the anxieties that have been caused.
As you will now know the French manufacturer has now gone into liquidation and their use of non-medical grade silicone was not flagged up until the recent announcements.
Prior to this we had no way of knowing that these implants were in any way inferior and were not given previous notice.
Our policy is to see every patient for assessment.
We are writing to our patients’ GPs to ask them to arrange Ultrasound scans on the NHS. We feel that since the situation has arisen as a result of the failure of a government department that the NHS should play a part in solving the problem. It is also preferable for the GP to be involved.
Where re - augmentation or implant removal is requested we will be carrying out the procedures at cost price.
